"No firewire mounting!", says my iPod

It should come as no surprise that my iPod is, slowly but surely, waving good-bye at me with each passing day. I previously talked about the death of my ol' buddy, and its resurrection of biblical proportions shortly after.

Although his second coming has been a glorious one, I can't help but notice the fact that any day now he will no longer be booting up. Sure he's trying his best: - he syncs, he shuffles, he plays as far as his worn out battery will give, but he needs retirement.

The last hint of this seems to be the lack of firewire mounting. Good thing (#1) this iPod generation had USB 2.0 support, so I can still mount ol' buddy that way. Good thing (#2) I bought a USB 2.0 and firewire cable for the iPod back in the day. The issue is, however, that the iPod no longer charges when mounted. Good thing (#3) that this iPod was from the era when Steve was feeling more generous and it came with a wall-charge adapter in the box.

Three good things aside, the hard drive clicking is become more evident with each spin-up he peforms. The transferring time of files is not the same as it used to obviously, due to the crapped-out HD. We all know there's no coming back from a crapped out hard drive (PowerBook comes to mind), so its all a matter of time.

That been said, I'm pretty confident ol' buddy will make to the '007. How long after that can he sustain is anyone guess. Three, four months? We shall see..

Happy Christmas!

From the dude behind Void to all of you. Regardless of how you may celebrate it, or what you may believe (or not) in. Hopefully everybody got some good gifts from Santa, but most importantly had a good time with the fam. and relatives. Once again, happy merry Xmas!

Desktop for December

Following the footsteps of Chris, the man behind The Esoterik Blog, here's my desktop snap for the month of December.

Very "abstract-ish" and "orangey", I must say. Reminds somewhat of the Playstation 3 home dashboard menu screen look.

Besides the new wallpaper, not much else worth noting. You may notice the fast-user switching icon next to the Airport signal indicator, thats what's new for the month December. Again not a whole lot of change, enjoy the last desktop snap for the twenty-o-six..

Giving thanks when due

During my small hiatus I received a pretty nice (and unexpected) gift from the folks over at Potion Factory makers of the pretty cool musically inclined Tangerine! app. I talked about the coolness of this app some time back here, if you may recall or not...

Turns out that because of my blogging of Tangerine! the guys over at Potion Factory decided to give me a full license(!) to the out of beta release of Tangerine! What can I say but "thank you sir!..you guys rule."

I gotta say that this app is awesome for what it does. The latest version analyzes more reliably the BPM count of files, and as a whole the interface looks very "Mac-ish" cool. If you haven't yet tried Tangerine, give it a whirl. If you have a big iTunes library, this app will make you rediscover songs that perhaps you haven't listen to in ages. Most importantly, it will help you create playlists fitting your mood, or maybe something fitting for that gym workout.

Behold my graphic design goodness

I must that when the graphic design bug hits me, I tend to do some "not-so bad looking" stuff. Not that I'm the type that likes to pat himself on the back, but been using Photoshop for more than 7 years (for poop and giggles), I can move freely inside the depths of the Adobe application and cook some things here and there.. At least thats what I think

The recipe:
1 Photoshop CS2
1 Image canvas (762px. X 125px.)
1 Smart Group
3 Layer Masks
8 Layers (counting the Background layer)
14 Text Characters
Colors used: whatever looked good at the time.

Back for business!

After a small unannounced hiatus I am back! Some of you may have thought I went into a deep meditation state to find the answers that lie within, perhaps took some sky diving knitting classes, or went on a Bikini World tour as the guy that oils up the ladies before the contest (Dumb & Dumber reference there..best movie ever btw). Well not really, since we last spoke I passed my German A2 test, updated Void to the new version of Blogger (more on that in a bit), and..... and not much else really. I don't live the most exciting life out there as you can tell ;).

So what's new in this new version of Blogger? There's support for tagging posts. New more flexible templates. Decided to try the new templates, thus the debut of a new, simpler, straight-to-the-point, Wordpress-ish look for void. I will into changing the header for a small graphic, as to make it more personal. Trying to make a Blogger blog more "personal".. how's that for an oxymoron statement?

So that's all. I will post again prior to Xmas, or should I say Holidays? Because I don't wanna get sue by some sensitive people.. Look forward to my holiday post, and oh yea...my new header graphic.
