Help This Guy Become a Switcher!

Stefan over at his blog is taking donations to help him become a switcher. He's ready to ditch the Windows world and come over to the Mac-side of things, but he needs your help.

At this point you should be asking, Why do I wanna help the guy?? Well, the dude does have a very strong argument as to why he needs your (our) help. The dude works and study needs to help out in the home etc. By the looks of things if he wanted to raise the money by himself, he would be having a hell of a time doing it.

If you can help the guy out, either by donating some bucks to his case, or by spreading the word, please do. I for one can't give the guy some money currently, so here I am spreading the word on his case.

As fellow (soon to be) Mac User, I think we should all lend a helping hand.

Introducing the 17-in. MacBook Pro.

Going along with what the rumor sites had been talking about, Apple released today for pre-order, the Intel-powered 17-in. MacBook Pro. With a price tag of 2,799 US Dollars, it sets itself in a very competitive spot when compared to the top of the line 15-in MacBook Pro configuration ($2,499.00). Should you be wondering what that 300 Dollar gives you well, here are the specs:

17-inch widescreen display
1680 x 1050 resolution
2.16GHz Intel Core Duo

1GB (single SODIMM) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
120GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drive
8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 256MB GDDR3 memory
One FireWire 400, one FireWire 800, and three USB 2.0 ports

Putting those specs in perspective with the top of the line 15-in model, you get a bigger screen, a FW 800 port (glad to see it back, as to hush all of you that are saying Apple is ditching the FW interface), and finally a Dual-Layer DVD Burner.

Pretty nice deal if you were considering the top of the line 15-in MacBook Pro, and are willing to put out 300 bucks more.

Overall, is good to see Apple is going full-ahead with their intel transition. Although this machine may not be for everyone, it's only matter of time until we see the replacement for iBook..or MacBook. A system more focused towards every-day tasks and such.

With this MacBook Pro, you are more likely to be seen doing crazy Audio filters in Logic Pro, than re-touching your pet's pic in iPhoto. Not that you couldn't do it, but we all know that theres a Pro in the name for a reason ;).

Car Personality Test.

I'm a Mercedes SLK!

You appreciate the finer things in life. You have a split personality - wild or conservative, depending on your mood. Wherever you go, you like to travel first class. Luxury, style, and fun - who could ask for more?

Take the Which Sports Car Are You? quiz.

Quite interesting results... I could've liked more been a BMW or Audi, oh well...at least it's a german car. Not so bad after all..

Video Of the Week #6: DEA Agent Shoots Himself On The Foot -With Follow Up.

Talk about an accident on the job...

Money Quote, seconds prior to the "incident": "I am the only one professional enough in the room to carry one."

The follow-up story reported by Mercury News:

A DEA agent who accidentally shot himself in the foot while demonstrating gun safety to school children is suing the agency, saying video of the incident has made him the joke of the Internet.

...Paige "is the target of jokes, derision, ridicule and disparaging comments" because of the publicity, according to the lawsuit, which seeks an unspecified amount.

So he has established a demand because he gets picked on after he "only one professional enough" shot himself on the foot. Bizarro world we live in..

Nokia 8800 Aston Martin Edition: Only $1400.

Engadget Mobile reports:

..(they) will be produced in a "strictly limited" quantity likely equalling the number of people willing to actually purchase one. So what do you get beyond what the 8800 fashion phone already dishes? Well, how about a discrete Aston Martin winged logo laser-etched on the stainless steel casing and an Aston Martin video, wallpaper, and screensaver all pre-loaded at the factory. Oh, and if that's not enough to convince you to dig deep for the £800 excluding VAT (more than $1400)...

So there you have spend over 1400 bucks for a phone that matches your car. I can't help but wonder what happens when you get tired of that car and get yourself a Porsche for example..

Trade-in the phone and car at the dealer??

Pardon the lack of updates as of lately, I have been busy with University stuff. Excuse aside, here's the sensation that swept the internet some time ago: -The Tunak!

That's right, don't fight it, get off your chair and try to pull out some of those moves! I'm telling the tunak is contagious.

Send Your Mail With A Koopa.

Only in the land of the rising sun(tm) -some Mario Brosinspired 10-stamp sheets of 80 Yen stamps are now available for pre-order. Fully available next month, they are sure to make your letters stand out from the rest.

Although most of whom will be buying these stamps will be doing so for collection purposes, I'm sure they will be a hot item in Ebay pretty soon. I wonder if they are going to do other Nintendo classics, like Excite Bike, or Punch Out...
