The PowerPC is on Death Row..

.. And by Death Row I don't mean the famous label that once upon a time was home of 2Pac, Snoop, and Dr. Dre. I'm talking about the one that leads to a better life. Now, it should come as no surprise that when Apple decided to move to the x86 platform the days of the PowerPC chip were numbered. Well those days are getting closer and closer apparently. Let's start preparing the farewell messages..

With the introduction of the new iLife 08 suite, along came a new version of iMovie. The star of many heated debates across the Mac community given that this iMovie looks nothing like the old iMovie versions of the past. Plugins don't work, the timeline is gone, the icon is gone, and by the most part the satisfaction factor is divided across the user base. Most people are basically saying "wtf is this Steve?!". Apple, in a prophet like visionary move, decided to make available the "old" iMovie HD, should the new the one not tickle your fancy. All fine and dandy, until I see the system requirements for this new version.

... iMovie requires a Mac with an Intel processor, a Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0GHz or faster), or an iMac G5 (1.9GHz or faster) ...

So the G4 is out of the game, not to mention the now ancient G3 processor when it comes to iMovie. Is this the start of the elimination of the PowerPC platform? Something inside of me tells me.."yes".
Don't get me wrong, I applaud Apple for the x86 platform switch. As I previously said, the beginning of the end was an inevitable outcome for us the PowerPC owners. What's left for us to do? For one, I have already started eye-ing a MacBook to replace my PowerPC Macs. When it will that happen? Who knows, I am still trying to get a hold of an iPod nano (lol). My small conclusion, let us brace the beginning of the end and start saving up to move to the new speedier Macs. By the way, even Mr. Pogue thinks the iMovie 08 stinks.

EnragedAmigos(.com)

It all started as a good idea between my partner in crime, Tony and I. A collabo-effort on a single blog. Thus, EnragedAmigos.com was born. A place were we talk about whatever pops in our minds from games to random rants, its all there.

So far we have a nice quantity of posts under our belts. Again, a little of bit everything. It may not be rated-G content, but you wont find any naked chicks either (sorry!). Shameless plug aside, I believe Enraged can be a good daily off-topic stop on the blog reading cruise we all embark every day.

Let It Snow, let it snow

So today was the second time in short period of time that we have gotten snow around here. To say the least it has been cold as hell lately. Cold as hell..Oxymoron statement of the year, but you get the point. I can only wish the heat comes soon. One week of cold weather is ok. Two, I can handle. A freaking month of cold weather? C'mon maann..

While I sit around awaiting the sunny days. I leave you with the current temperature. That's in Celcius, which according to the Unit converter dashboard widget is..28.4 Fahrenheit. Good times.
